Bronzing up: Paul & Joe 2009 gold bronzer in 1 - Deity

Such a fun monday: I normally do not receive any mail on monday, but today I had a lovely package from beautybay.com again.

I was lemming the new Paul & Joe summer 2009 bronzer in 1 like a maniac. I needed it. I was raised with the concept that a tan equals health, and although I shun away from harsh sunlight, or layer sunblock on my skin, I still find a bit of a bronzy glow, even if it is...'artificially-created'...a happy thing for the summer months.

First, the box is really pretty. The colour is a taupe/silverly/golden mix of colours and has the signature Paul & Joe flowers on top. I love the Art-Deco-esque flowers, and I think the round shape with little waves on the side is really elegant.

(I ordered 2 things from Paul & Joe...the Protective Dual Foundation pact as well: I will review that one mid-week)

The ingredients: it is a mix of goodies and not-really-fab ingredients. I am not a fan of the mineral oil or parabens, but I am not allergic to that either (for a change, LOL). The jojoba seed oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil are beneficial for the skin.

Paul & Joe delivers its bronzer with a powder puff. Somewhat I wonder why they did not include a small, flat brush in it. Anyhow, I will use it with my own brushes (dual fibre or bronzer brush) instead.

The bronzer has such a beautiful flower inprinted in the powder...

The next close up has been made with FLASH. It looks more orangy than in the previous pictures, which is quite accurate. The bronzer IS a bit orangy. I will show that in the next series of pictures.

There are some tiny tiny golden sparkles in the bronzer, but you have to look close for it. In the swatches it looks quite matte.

Although it looks reasonably neutral brown in this swatch, I can show the next couple of swatches, that compares Paul & Joe bronzer 1 with other bronzer favourites of mine.

Please, click on the picture for a better view. I always prefer bronzers with as little orange in it as possible. I have collected a fair amount of bronzers, which vary from neutral browns to pinky browns. I did not include bronzers only, I added two of the shader colours from my beloved Maquillage Face Creator compacts in 11 and 33 (earlier reviews here and here).

The good thing about my new bronzer, that I haven't got any colour like this yet. Paul & Joe is a lot lighter than the Mac Beautypowder in Eversun and a lot more peachy than the Maquillage Face Creator Shader Colour. in 33.

I cannot review the durability of the P&J bronzer yet, as I haven't tried it on my face yet. I am not sure how it will look in total, as it seems a bit too orangy for me, yet. However, I really like my Mac Beautypowder in Eversun as well, and look how orangy thát one looks comparing with the others. Verdict: try on the face first...

That leaves me to showing off the compacts of some of the other colours I swatched. I am really fond of my Giorgio Armani bronzers: No. 1 is often voted to be the most popular one (MUA), however, I love no. 2 more, as it is more rosy and more blush-like.

I adore Benefit Dallas so much, that I have a back-up of this one. People seem to love it, or dislike it. I am in the 'lovin-camp'...

The smooth Mac Eversun as well. I absolutely like various Mac products, but I tempt not to blog that much on Mac, as Mac gets an overabundance of reviews... (and other beauty products need love and reviews as well)

Ha ha, a big lemming has been fullfilled. Paul & Joe Deity bronzer...you are mine!

ooooooh! You got it! I hope you like it!

I got the Eversun with the MAC Trip: 4 Bronze eye and cheek, and I really love it--it's great for paler, yellowy complexions.

Le me know how you do with the P&J!

Hi there,

Thanks for this lovely post! I had been lemming 01 Deity quite a bit too but now I think I will wait until hearing how you like it. I don't do well with orange...but it is quite pretty.

Oh, you got the Dual Protective Powder Foundation! I also got it recently.

I'm not a fan of mineral oil in cosmetics either (especially in face products), but it hasn't broke me out nor did it irritate my sensitive skin so far. :)

Looking forward to your thoughts on it!

The P&J bronzer looks super pretty!

I'll have to agree with you, just having a touch of warmth could give you a healthy glow. I was told I look better with light brown hair than dark brown hair since the light brown makes me look warmer and healthier, since my face is so pale and sickly xP Anyway, the P&J Bronzer looks so nice! Hope you like it when you try it :D All the other bronzers look nice as well. Your pictures come out so well, esp the close-ups, I could even see the texture of the powders, nice!

New reader here. I love the P&J products. I know they're good quality and their aesthetic is just...amazing, to me.

Btw, new reader here! I love your blog. I hope you have the time to check out mine too. :)

The new compact PJ has is so pretty, although they could use a prettier puff...I always wanted something from their line but I know it would be pointless to buy something and never use them (I haven't been that interested in their actual product) so I got a mirror instead...

It pissed me off quite badly so I guess no Paul & Joe for me at least for a while...

It looks peachy in the pan but much darker on your arm! I skipped pretty much the whole collection, except the polishes, hehehe.

great bronzer review!! i might have to do one too!
it's so hard to find a bronzer without orange in it. Most that are less orangy, are usually too sparkly!
