RMK Translucent lipgloss in 36 Shiny Coral Orange

Hey everyone,

Actually I have little inspiration today, but I promised you to show you one of my latest lipglosses I purchased, and really enjoy.

I am one of the thousand followers of Fuzkitty, and I often like the products she recommends. A couple of weeks ago she did a review on various glosses, and one of the extraordinary glosses that really stood out to me, was the RMK lipgloss.

I wanted to try it for myself as well. So, in order to pick up a summery shade I went for the 2009 summer colour in 36, shiny Coral Orange.

The pretty silver box says 'Choose me': ofcourse I will choose you if you are pretty and wear very well.

I love the colour: it is exactly what it says...a coral orange.

It is such a complex and multidimentional colour without becoming teenybopper glittery. It works on my more mature mouth as well. Moreover, it is a non sticky lipgloss, which I prefer for the warm summer days.

Sorry, no lip swatches today. I feel really insecure about the shape and form of my lips lately. (I am even considering surgery, which is quite unusual to me...only my boyfriend does not like me having any plastic surgery on me, so I will have to keep it au naturelle for a while)

I am really happy with this gloss and it has been my travel mate for the last couple of weeks. It is not my only lip-product in my travel pouch, he he, lipglosses and -sticks are highly represented in my purse...LOL.

I bought my lipgloss on facial-shop.com for $19.99. Ichibankao.com has a wider selection of colours too.

Have a wonderful and lipsmacking weekend!

Banila Co Copacabana blush/bronzer

In my last Gmarket haul-post I already showed some of my enthousiasm for a new product. I am a person who often tries new cosmetic items, and most of my readers are as well, even though I have some HG products. There could be something out there with even more HG powders, right?

Banila Co, one of my favourite Korean Brands, lauched a summer collection which is slightly different from the normal philosophy of Korean cosmetic brands. In Korea, and most of the other Asian countries, bronzed skin is not supposed to be the summon of beauty, except for the weirdish Ganguro style (lol, see this excellent video on Eki's blog, which most of you have probably seen before, but I consider it a classic now).

When Banila Co launched their 2009 summer collection with the name Copacabana Rio de Janeiro, I knew it would be bronzy and summery. Question was...how dark would Banila Co go?

I only bought the blush/bronzer compact. The other liquid highlighter for the face and the bronzer for the body look interesting too, but I do not like the liquid bronzer highlighters so much. Which meant that I skipped them.

The Banila Co seller on Gmarket already advertised with adding some BB Let Me Bebe samples as a GWP. I also received some square cotton pads in the pink striped box.

The compact itself is a pink colour with tends to look lilac in some light. It has a soft shell-like glow over it. The inside powder is rippled, or ruffled, like soft waves. The powder looks slightly metallic as is not as soft as normal blushes. I am not sure if it is baked or not...Banila Co often bakes its blush/highlighter products.

I can answer my earlier question with a satisfactory answer. The colour is light enough for light skin. Even pale skin can get away with this colour.

So, why am I so enthousiastic about this? Ok, it is the fact that it is not merely a bronzer, it has enough rosy colour inside to make a realistic glow and a pop of believeable colour. I tend to tan in a rosy/light brown way, and lots of light to pale skinned persons do.

The bronzers that I am looking for should be realistic enough to pass for a tan. I have some samples of other bronzers in this post, which shows the different sorts of bronzers compared with each other. (btw, the Paul & Joe bronzer has not been used that much, so it is probably going away soon)
The next swatch is some of the Banila Copacabana on my finger. It shows the lightness of the colour, and the bronziness. It is not as rosy as it is on the picture, however, it shows a bit of the slightly metallic glow. The metallic glow is not scary, though, I am very particular about my blushes and I do not like overly sparkly, unnatural or metallic blushes. This one has the right amount of glow.

That is why I included a picture of the Banila Co Copacabana bronzer on my Mac travel brush . This is a more accurate colour depiction.

A close up of the brush. It reminds me of Benefit Dallas, only lighter and less muddy. I think it has the right amount of bronze and rosiness that flatters my skin.

Overal, I love this new acquisition and it was worth the hassle and tax I complained about in my previous post. I think it is a good start for pale (Asian) skin, or Asian girls who take a first step into a world called 'sunkissed skin'. I also believe it can give tanned or darker skin a fresh rosy glow, although the colour would not pop so much.

Kanebo Kate Lasting Color Eyesl in GY-1: grey colour??

I have not seen that many reviews on Kanebo Kate latest Eyeliner pencils yet: actually, I have not found a single one before ordering this sweetie from adambeauty.

I am still looking for a really good and smooth, but not smudge-tastic grey eyeliner pencil. This pencil actually sells like a hybrid between eyeshadow and pencil. I picked the colour GY-1, because that normally corresponds with a grey shade.

That is the colour I picked: GY-1

I had to check the label, because as you can see on the next picture, it looks not grey or slate/greylike at all. There are some golden glitters in the pencil, and it actually looks more dark green/khaki than grey.

The pencil has a twist-up mechanism, which means that you do not have to sharpen your pencil constantly. I do not like sharpening big pencils, as you always spoil so much product.

The colour is quite nice, although it has nothing greyish in it. It looks like a dark brown with lovely golden sprinkles in it. It is a nice creamy texture, which makes it suitable for a soft and somewhat 'dewy' application.

This picture is an even closer close-up (click on the picture for more detail).

It can work as an eyeliner pencil, or as an eyeshadow. I smudged the pencil a bit so you can see how it looks in a smudged form (as a eyeshadow or eyeshadow base). Ok, it looks more slate-like now, but I still find the golden flecks to alter the colour from its (hardly existent) greyness.

Ha ha, I am complaining a bit about the colour, but I actually love the product a lot for using on my eyes. I like the creaminess of the product and I found it to hold up all day, without a base. I did not experience any irritations from it either.
I bought this pencil for $10.50 on adambeauty. I think I am going to pick up the black one as well, or perhaps the white for putting into the waterline (and look awake when I am not).

Bronzing up: Paul & Joe 2009 gold bronzer in 1 - Deity

Such a fun monday: I normally do not receive any mail on monday, but today I had a lovely package from beautybay.com again.

I was lemming the new Paul & Joe summer 2009 bronzer in 1 like a maniac. I needed it. I was raised with the concept that a tan equals health, and although I shun away from harsh sunlight, or layer sunblock on my skin, I still find a bit of a bronzy glow, even if it is...'artificially-created'...a happy thing for the summer months.

First, the box is really pretty. The colour is a taupe/silverly/golden mix of colours and has the signature Paul & Joe flowers on top. I love the Art-Deco-esque flowers, and I think the round shape with little waves on the side is really elegant.

(I ordered 2 things from Paul & Joe...the Protective Dual Foundation pact as well: I will review that one mid-week)

The ingredients: it is a mix of goodies and not-really-fab ingredients. I am not a fan of the mineral oil or parabens, but I am not allergic to that either (for a change, LOL). The jojoba seed oil, apricot oil, grape seed oil are beneficial for the skin.

Paul & Joe delivers its bronzer with a powder puff. Somewhat I wonder why they did not include a small, flat brush in it. Anyhow, I will use it with my own brushes (dual fibre or bronzer brush) instead.

The bronzer has such a beautiful flower inprinted in the powder...

The next close up has been made with FLASH. It looks more orangy than in the previous pictures, which is quite accurate. The bronzer IS a bit orangy. I will show that in the next series of pictures.

There are some tiny tiny golden sparkles in the bronzer, but you have to look close for it. In the swatches it looks quite matte.

Although it looks reasonably neutral brown in this swatch, I can show the next couple of swatches, that compares Paul & Joe bronzer 1 with other bronzer favourites of mine.

Please, click on the picture for a better view. I always prefer bronzers with as little orange in it as possible. I have collected a fair amount of bronzers, which vary from neutral browns to pinky browns. I did not include bronzers only, I added two of the shader colours from my beloved Maquillage Face Creator compacts in 11 and 33 (earlier reviews here and here).

The good thing about my new bronzer, that I haven't got any colour like this yet. Paul & Joe is a lot lighter than the Mac Beautypowder in Eversun and a lot more peachy than the Maquillage Face Creator Shader Colour. in 33.

I cannot review the durability of the P&J bronzer yet, as I haven't tried it on my face yet. I am not sure how it will look in total, as it seems a bit too orangy for me, yet. However, I really like my Mac Beautypowder in Eversun as well, and look how orangy thát one looks comparing with the others. Verdict: try on the face first...

That leaves me to showing off the compacts of some of the other colours I swatched. I am really fond of my Giorgio Armani bronzers: No. 1 is often voted to be the most popular one (MUA), however, I love no. 2 more, as it is more rosy and more blush-like.

I adore Benefit Dallas so much, that I have a back-up of this one. People seem to love it, or dislike it. I am in the 'lovin-camp'...

The smooth Mac Eversun as well. I absolutely like various Mac products, but I tempt not to blog that much on Mac, as Mac gets an overabundance of reviews... (and other beauty products need love and reviews as well)

Ha ha, a big lemming has been fullfilled. Paul & Joe Deity bronzer...you are mine!
