Happy NYE!!!

Blogging takes you around the world: People in Sydney have already popped the corks and are already a full two hours living in 2009. In the meanwhile, you could be in Los Angeles waking up and you still have a whole day before NYE...

So I want to wish all readers around the world a FANTASTIC New Years Eve and even a better 2009! I hope all your good resolutions, bad resolutions, sweet wishes, naughty dreams will be fullfilled completely or partially (so you still have something to wish for in 2010).

Hauls: Gmarket, Silknaturals, Sephora

Ha ha! Yesterday was a lovely day in the life-of-a-cosmetic-junkie...I got some serious items by mail, and bought some seriously discounted sets at Sephora...

I received my Korean goodies...I have already been lusting over Kathy's and Inspiringbeautycreator's pictures of Etude "I can't stop smiling"-items and I was waiting anxiously for my order to come in, and finally...I received mine....

I only ordered the pearl blusher and the Cleansing Dream light oil...If I knew that etudehouse would dissapear from gmarket I would have ordered more...

I also ordered a Lioelle set and two Glissade lippies...I will review them in the new year (he he, so nice to say that).

I also received a small silknaturals.com haul. I love their natural lipsticks and mineral blushers! They are incredibly flattering.

The lipstick on the right is the Pink Gold lipstick from Avon Color Rich 24K lipstick line...We do not have any Avon representatives in our country anymore, so I ordered that one (and Rose Gold) from ebay...
By the way, it was Jen from A beautyful Sentiment that made me buy these lipsticks with her wonderful post and swatches of the lippies (here).

And if I did not have enough, I also visited the Sephora and they had a brilliant discount on several Christmas-sets: 40% off!!!! Wowza...I bought the Too Faced Glamour to Go set and the Cargo Holiday Nights collection.

Now I want to go back to Sephora and purchase the Benefit Love, Peace and Glossiness set and the Makeup Forever Back to Black collection...they are also 40% off. Unfortunately, I will not be able to go to Sephora today: I have to wait untill friday. I hope they are still available then.

The last picture is not makeup related. It is my dear boy playing on the frozen lake! The skating fever has struck our country and everybody and their grandma feels the need to skate on ice.

(btw, he did not fall down, he is just checking if the ice is sturdy enough for my weight, LOL).

♥ my little lamp ♥

It takes little to know that I have a weak spot for art-deco and art-nouveau type of things...Just check my blog-page...I just love the forms, colour and compositions of this form of art and decoration.

So I was really thrilled when one of my Christmas present of my dear boyfriend was a sweet little art-deco lamp, or a Tiffany lamp, with a darling dragonfly on it ♥♥♥

Just to realize that the poor thing went into a lamp-shop for me and asked for it...awwww.

benefit Coralista - on the site

I have been looking forward to the lauch of benefit's new blush since I saw swatches of it on Karen's blog. This blush is supposed to be as flattering as Nars Orgasm, without the obnoxious (to me) golden glittery parts.
Today I found it listed on benefit's site (here)! Wonderful, I already ordered mine...

I am the biggest fan of Benefit's Dallas, so I hope this one will be just as fab! It retails for $28 online, but benefit often has a good deal: I used PRETTY15 for 15% off. (more discount codes to be found at retailmenot.com)

Adesign travel set brushes

I do not have that much to write for today...I have a bit of a limited blogger's vocabulary lately :P...But I want to show you what I purchased during the adesign sale I blogged about...(here)

I bought the mini set, which is perfect for the vain traveller...for $36 including DHL shipping.. Normally it retails for $45, without shipping.

It comes in a beautiful pouch that can be strung together.

I received 6 brushes: from left to right --->Powder brush, Foundation brush, Baby Buki, Shadow, Angled Liner and Brow brush.

The brushes are very mini indeed. I placed my normal sized kabuki next to the kabuki from the mini set, and did the same with the foundation brush. They are truely baby and toddler sized.

The baby kabuki is wonderful for detail when applying mineral makeup or powdered foundation. I still prefer the bigger size for my full face, but on the road I simply reapply my t-zone and perhaps some other spots, so that makes it really handy for toting around.

another mug-shot
The size did not influenced the (according to me) excellent quality of the brushes. They are just as fab as the larger sized Adesign brushes...

The sale is still going on, which is rather tempting, because I really want to place another order again...ooops.

Lotree swatches- Winter Dream & Point Set (pic heavy)

A week ago I received my gmarket haul with two gorgeous sets of Lotree (post is over here). I had chosen for the 2008 Winter Beauty Dream set and the Point Touch Special set.

I realised that I hadn't made lots of swatches yet...silly moi. Swatches can be so handy for deciding if you actually want to buy something unseen. And I think that most of the people who stumble upon my blog do not have the luxury to see the gorgeousness of Lotree (and other beautiful Korean cosmetics) in real life before actually buying it.

So it is a good thing that I am voluntarily sacrifice myself to buy Lotree in order to show to the world (ironic, me???)

I will start off with the items from the Point Special Touch set. You will receive a mascara (pretty average, I will post pictures of it in another post), a eyeshadow powder (already reviewed by Kathy in this post here), a blusher in colour no 1 (no choice) and you can pick your own colour lipgloss in the shade you want...

One of the main reasons I really wanted to buy the Point set was because of the blush. I was curious if it would be of a nice quality...I could have bought the full size blush, however, the price of the full size blush is almost as much as the whole point set. And honestly, I do not see myself finishing a full-sized blush within a short time soon...

The picture in the Point set promotion (beginning of this post) showed a muted pink colour. I figured if the colour was right that it would be lovely in real life. I also looked closely to the blush swatches fromt the full-sized blush-chart...and I hoped I would get No 2, 3 or 5. I received no 1, which looks pink in the swatch-chart...

Here is the blush in real life, a bit more peachy in the pan... The colour looks really light. Even on my pale underarm...You can see some golden flecks and a peachy, nude base...

This picture beneath is taken in natural, cool light...It looks rather chalky in a way...I am not too fond of the colour and texture, so I am glad that I did not buy a full size blush of the Lotree one...

I was looking forward to the full-size lipgloss that came with the set. I chose no 2, which looked like a peachy pink on the swatch-chart of Lotree's wonderful world...Actually, the lipgloss choices were not on the Point-set page: I had to go to Lotree's site in order to make a choice...

I picked no. 2...a pinkish colour...

It comes in a full-sized glass bottle...I love the shape of it, very luxurious...

Da bottom: It really is No 2...
The next swatch is made in cool natural light...It is a rosy pink with small shimmer and some scatterings of bigger glitters. I do not know why Korean lipglosses (at least Tony Moly does) contain the bigger glitters, because they do not add anything to the gloss. However, they are used sparingly so I do not feel like a seventies disco queen when wearing this gloss...
The texture is sticky, but not Mac lipglass-sticky...I would rate it average on the stickiness level...
Let's stay with the lips and glosses...The next Lotree is the Lip Makeup from the Winter Dream 2008 set. It is the one on the right in the next picture.
I absolutely love the colour...It is a red with a hint of pink...it is opaque enough to coat the lips in red with just one coating. It is NOT STICKY at all and it does not migrate into the fine lines around the lip...LUV it....
This picture is made in cool daylight...
The next picture is made with flash...smile!
Lotree created quite an original Winter Dream Look. The red lips are predictable with a winter look, but Lotree decided to create a dreamier look with the addition of pink cheeks...Moreover, they added a cheek stain with the look instead of a, often heavier looking, powder blush...
The blush stain also comes in a glass bottle. Earlier I mentioned that it reminded me of Benefit Posietint. But, as a reader commented rightfully, it definitely looks more neon pink than Benefit.
The stain can be applied with a felt-tip on the cheeks....
I swatched the stain, before blending...it looks rather pink

But as you can see closely, the thinner areas that have been blended look rather translucently rosy.
On the other hand, if you leave a unspreaded blob on your hand for too long...it can create a rather fierce pink stain...so blend if you want a more dewy look instead of raver's pink...

The next product that was included with the set I chosen was the Moisture Skin Primer Pact. It is different from the Rosa Davurica powder I bought earlier, as this one functions as a primer instead of a setting powder. It also comes in two colours, from which I picked the darkest one, no 23. The Rosa Davurica was also available in 25.
This picture is rather true to life...
I find the colour to be rather good for my NW 20-25 skin. But as it is a primer, I set some makeup over it. However, my skin is a bit iffy right now, so I use pearl powder as a primer instead...
Last, but not least of the great picture show, is the Aurora Styling Pearl Point powder eyeshadow. I tried to find a name or number with this colour, but I could not find it...sorry. It comes both with the Point Set as the Winter Dream Set.
The eyeshadow powder is stored in a rather bulky tray with a rubber lid on top, so you can manage your powder spillage...

It comes out as tiny clots of charcoal powder with silver flecks...ohh, I already love the colour...

And it blends out, very smoothly, into a sultry charcoal shadow with a slight metallic sheen...Gorgeous!

As I said earlier...the look is rather unexpecting for winter...Ok, Charcoal eyes and red lips are quite common for a winter look, but with the soft pink cheeks it becomes more ethereal than vampy winter vixen. It is more snowwhite-in-the-snow fresh than the usual broody winter look.
Overall, I am still really delighted with the two Lotree sets. I did not find the powder blush to be what I expected, but hey...at least I picked a small sized one.

Nix'ie blush...confused by the chart!

My last cosmetic haul that came in by mail was the one from cameracosmetics that I blogged about earlier (here), the one with all the La Femme blushes.
But I picked up two Nix'ie blushes as well: I really like the Nix'ie products I already have (here) and it would not hurt to buy two new colours.

I wanted to add two neutrals to my collection that could double as a bronzer or shader. I was looking for something like Mac Eversun, except in the Nix'ie variety. Therefore I chose for Dignity and Confidence based on the swatches...

On their swatch-chart they seemed to be in the same family, only Confidence is a bit more reddish...

This was the big swatch of Confidence...I thought it looked really nice...

You can understand I was suprised when I saw Confidence in real life...it is a matte red!!!

I checked the back if I received the right blush...At least the name is Confidence...

Maybe it had magic powers and the swatch would become a neutral with a hint of red in it....

Nope...it stays really red....

In natural light as well...On the other hand I find Dignity to be swatch-chart accurate...
So, was I mad? I took another look at nix'ies site and cameracosmetics' site: same chart...
So here came the lightbulb moment: It seems that the description was really accurate, only the swatch-chart wasn't:
However, I feel a bit cheated by the difference between the swatch online and the description...it really does not look like the real thing. Most people only check the picture and not the description.
Next time...read up...dear Birkinbagbeauty!

We have a Primark!

Wow, how could I have missed this news? Since the beginning of December our country is the happy owner of a Primark as well. Just in time for the credit crunch shoppers...

Primark was my little haven during my stay in Liverpool last year. It is absolutely not snobworthy, because the shop caters for the Cheap and Cheerful: think dresses for 12 euro...bags for 7 euro, etc.

Ok, I have to travel about an hour by train to reach the store, as it is in the South of the Netherlands...but it beats going to London/Liverpool/Glasgow by air (although that option is more fun....). Or, as I did yesterday...convinced my boyfriend to drive me to the place.
Aww, my cutie pie did that...we came back with a modest haul. He bought a sweater and some pants...Here is the bag....

Yup, we have our own bags with the adress on top..

My damage: a flimsy top with art deco decoration on the bottom (cheapy 13 euro)

It looks a bit like the template of my blog, except it being in different colours...

Some cheap boots that look not so cheap...(16 euros)

I like the way you can wear them...turned down or turned up...And the heels are the same colour as the boot itself...
Lovely to have found a British Franchise in our little country. I just loveeee British shops!
